On-Farm Activities

At "Peranjou" we are very fortunate, not only do we have wide open spaces and prime grazing country we have the luxury of 2km of river frontage right on our doorstep.

Bushwalking
The river is an easy half hour walk from the cottage, a stroll that will give you the opportunity to seek out the plentiful assortment of bird and wildlife while also offering beautiful views of the Gwydir valley. If you prefer, there is a well maintained track which enables vehicle access close to the riverbank.

Swimming & Kayaking
The river is a great place to stroll, picnic or take a refreshing dip or we have a 2 man kayak for hire so that you can explore from the water.

Fishing
For those who enjoy fishing, there are excellent spots which are favoured by the Murray Cod and Yellow Belly. To encourage the sustainability of this species in our waterway we have a catch and release policy.

Bird enthusiasts
birdBird watching specialists have recognised our part of the river and the feeder creeks on “Peranjou” as being a harbour for a great variety of birdlife as well as some unexpected species for this area.

Click on the bird to download a list of birds spotted by the Hastings Birdwatchers on 17/9/2009. You can record the birds you spot on this list.

Golf
Your hosts are keen golfers and have their own golf driving range. There are always plenty of practice balls on hand and there is plenty of space to belt out frustrations. If you can't bring your own equipment, there is plenty available to hire at a small cost.

Painting/Photography
There are many tranquil spots on the farm and further afield, which offer great vantage points from which to paint. Aas you can see from the images on our website there are also great photographic opportunities.

General farm activities
There is always something happening on farm, so just ask if you would like to be involved. Don't worry, we won't work you too hard!

Relaxing
Of course if this all sounds too much, just sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Borrow a book, watch a DVD or do nothing!
